Exchange held for HCM City youth, Vietnamese peacekeepers

HCM City (VNA) – Youngsters in Ho Chi Minh City had an exchange on June 14 withpeacekeepers of Vietnam's Level-2 Field Hospital Rotation 3 in South Sudan.

The event aimedto inspire patriotism and national pride among local youth, and highlight therole of the youth in UN peacekeeping operations.

At the exchange,peacekeepers, doctors from Level-2 Field Hospital Rotation 3 told storiesand memories of their operations in South Sudan, and their training sessions beforejoining the mission.

Captain Nguyen Manh Hiep, a nurse of the air ambulance force who hasparticipated in the UN peacekeeping missions three times in the Republic ofSouth Sudan, said that each officer and soldier of the Vietnamese peacekeepingforce always remind themselves to promote the good traditions of the force ingeneral and Vietnam’s Level-2 Field Hospital in particular. They have acted asambassadors of peace and culture, bringing the image of people and military ofVietnam to the world, he said.

Within theevent’s framework, a number of activities were held, including a photoexhibition on activities of Vietnamese peacekeepers in South Sudan. The VietnamYouth Federation in HCM City presented Vietnam's Level-2 Field HospitalRotation 3 with 100 bags of seeds and 100 “I love my Fatherland” badges.

Through thepeacekeepers, sponsors of the event presented 100 pairs of shoes to needy adolescencesand children of South Sudan.

Meanwhile, the VietnamYouth Federation in HCM City and Level-2 Field Hospital Rotation 3 signedan agreement on cooperation in organising regular exchanges and dialogues, makingcommunications works, holding online exchange on Lunar New Year occasion, andsupporting children of the peacekeepers in Vietnam./.
