Exhibition highlights Vietnamese housing

An exhibition featuring models of modern Vietnamese houses designed by architects in Hanoi and Ho Chi Minh City and pictures of houses by well-known photographers like Japan's Hiroyuki Oki will open in HCM City on April 24.
An exhibition featuring models of modern Vietnamese houses designed byarchitects in Hanoi and Ho Chi Minh City and pictures of houses bywell-known photographers like Japan's Hiroyuki Oki will open in HCM Cityon April 24.

The event, titled Seu Do (red crane), is expectedto serve as a forum for those working in architecture, construction andinterior design and decoration to compare notes on the industry'sdevelopment and inspire creativity in young architects and students.

Thedesign models offer solutions for building houses with a blend oftradition and modernity and without any negative effects on thesurrounding scenery or environment, like the Asian Contemporaryleafroofing design by architect couple Pham Thi My An and MichaelCharruault.

Others provide ideas for average families to buildhouses using affordable materials that can survive storms, createprivacy for members as well as common space for the family, with aircirculation being a priority.

🔜 Vietnam re-elected to 2005 UNESCO Convention’s Intergovernmental Committee

This is the first time since the adoption of the Convention that a country has served two consecutive terms on the Committee.
