Hanoi (VNA) – An exhibition on the Dien Bien Phu campaignand victory was opened at the Vietnam National Fine Arts Museum in Hanoi on May3, as part of the activities to celebrate the 65th anniversary of the victory(May 7, 1954 – 2019).
The campaign lasted for 56 days under the command of GeneralVo Nguyen Giap. It saw Vietnam defeat the French colonialists to put an end totheir rule in Indochina the same year.
The event features 39 works by 27 artists on differentmaterials, depicting the developments on the battlefield during the period and portrayingthose who made the historical victory. Many of the works have been shown to thepublic for the first time.
President of the Vietnam Fine Arts Association Tran KhanhChuong, who also has his works exhibited, said the exhibition helps bring backa chapter of the history and educate younger generations on Vietnam’straditions, history and patriotism. It also honours those who contributed tothe victory, he added.
