Exhibition spotlights Vietnam’s sea, island culture heritages

An exhibition on Vietnam’s sea and island culture heritages opened on June 9 in Tam Ky city as part of the 6th Quang Nam Heritage Festival 2017.

Quang Nam (VNA) – An exhibition onVietnam’s sea and island culture heritages opened on June 9 in Tam Ky city aspart of the 6th Quang Nam Heritage Festival 2017.

The event is designed to provide visitors anoverview on Vietnam’s sea and islands throughout historical periods through anumber of documents, ancient maps, records of the Nguyen Dynasty affirmingVietnam’s sovereignty over Truong Sa (Spratly) and Hoang Sa (Paracel)archipelagos. 

Also on display are ancient items featuring thecountry’s sea and island cultures as well as festival costumes and workingtools of people in coastal regions, helping visitors gain a better understandingabout the life of fishermen. 

In addition, cultural heritages, sea and islandtourism, folk performances and sea products of coastal localities are displayedat the exhibition, jointly held by the Ministry of Culture, Sports and Tourism,the People’s Committees of Quang Nam and central coastal localities.

The event, which runs through June 14, alsoprovides an opportunity to localities to accelerate cultural exchanges andshare experience in managing cultural activities, while promoting Vietnam’s culturalvalues as well as sea and island tourism potential. - VNA

꧑ Vietnam re-elected to 2005 UNESCO Convention’s Intergovernmental Committee

This is the first time since the adoption of the Convention that a country has served two consecutive terms on the Committee. The outcome shows the trust and recognition that member states have given Vietnam for its efforts and achievements in carrying out and promoting the Convention, as well as for its active role, strong standing, and growing credibility at UNESCO.

The exhibition showcases more than 100 valuable documents and artifacts, divided into two main parts: “Journalist Nguyen Ai Quoc – Ho Chi Minh” and “President Ho Chi Minh – Founder and Mentor of Vietnamese Revolutionary Press.” This is an opportunity to recall the late leader’s journalism journey and affirm his exceptional role in founding and guiding the revolutionary press in Vietnam.
