A team from US-based Warner Bros, has surveyed a cave at Phong Nha-KeBang National Park in Quang Binh province to select scenes for the filmPeter Pan.
The Provincial Department of Foreign Affairsannounced that the crew of 10 spent three days discovering theUNESCO-recognised En (Swallow) Cave, one of the park's resplendentspots, to find locations for the world-renowned fantasy-adventure film.
The team used aerial and remote-controlled cameras to calculate the shots which might be taken in the cave.
Inthese possible shots, the film's protagonist Peter Pan will hoverthrough the beautiful grotto and over magnificent mountain ranges andlush forests in the park.
Phong Nha-Ke Bang National Park, theUNESCO's World Heritage Site, is situated in a 2,000sq.km limestonezone, some 500km south of Hanoi. It is well-known for its cave andgrotto systems, comprising more than 300 caves with a total length ofover 70km.
Phong Nha holds several world cave records, as itboasts the longest underground river, as well as the largest caverns andpassageways in the world.
Apart from the cave, the team is alsoplanning to scour for locations in several other famed scenic spots inQuang Ninh and Ninh Binh provinces.
Peter Pan is one of thefavourite children's animated films produced in 1953 by Walt Disney. Itis based on the novel Peter Pan or The Boy Who Wouldn't Grow Up, by J MBarrie. The film was entered in the 1953 Cannes Film Festival.
Asequel titled Return to Never Land was released in 2002, and a series ofprequels focusing on Tinker Bell debuted in 2008. A pre-schoolers'television series featuring some of the characters also premiered in2011.
Filming will take place at Warner Bros Studios, Leavesden.The film, starring Levi Miller as Pan, is set for a worldwide release onJuly 17, next year.
Amanda Seyfried is set to play Mary in thecast, which sees Hugh Jackman star as Black-beard and Garrett Hedlund asCaptain Hook.
Joe Wright, the British filmmaker best known forhis many period pieces starring Keira Knightley, such as Pride andPrejudice, Atonement and Anna Karenina, will direct the movie.-VNA
