The first-instance trial of the case on the theft of confidential State documents involving former Chairman of the Hanoi People’s Committee Nguyen Duc Chung will open on December 11 behind closed doors, the Hanoi People’s Court has announced.

Hanoi (VNA) - The first-instance trial of thecase on the theft of confidential State documents involving former Chairman ofthe Hanoi People’s Committee Nguyen Duc Chung will open on December 11 behindclosed doors, the Hanoi People’s Court has announced.
The case is being held under the supervision of the CentralSteering Committee on Anti-Corruption.
Chung, 53, and his three accomplices are being prosecuted for“appropriating confidential State documents” under Article 337 of the 2015Penal Code.
Chung will be represented by four lawyers.
On May 14, the Ministry of Public Security beganinvestigations into a case at Nhat Cuong Technic Co. and relevant units. Theinvestigation agency determined that Chung and his wife, Nguyen Thi Truc ChiHoa, had rights and obligations associated with the case.
Chung then asked Dung to provide him with documents andinformation on the case.
At Chung’s request, Dung stole nine relevant documentslisted as “State secrets” and gave six to Chung between July 2019 and June 2020.
Trung and Ngoc took part in printing and adjusting three ofthe documents.
According to the indictment, the men confessed to theirwrongdoings during investigations./.
The Ministry of Public Security’s Investigation Security Agency on August 28 decided to detain for four months and launch criminal proceedings against Chairman of the Hanoi People’s Committee Nguyen Duc Chung on charges of “appropriating State secret documents” in line with Article 337 of the Criminal Code 2015.
The Standing Board of the People’s Council of Hanoi has decided to suspend the duty and power of a deputy of the 15th municipal People’s Council (2016-2021 tenure) of Chairman of the Hanoi People’s Committee Nguyen Duc Chung.
The Investigation Security Agency under the Ministry of Public Security on November 20 issued the investigation conclusion on the case of “appropriating State secret documents” involving Nguyen Duc Chung, former Chairman of the Hanoi People’s Committee.
The Supreme People’s Procuracy on November 26 decided to prosecute Nguyen Duc Chung, former Chairman of the Hanoi People’s Committee, and accomplices for “appropriating State secret documents” under Article 337 of the Penal Code.
