Former Hanoi chairman prosecuted for appropriating State secret documents
The Supreme People’s Procuracy on November 26 decided to prosecute Nguyen Duc Chung, former Chairman of the Hanoi People’s Committee, and accomplices for “appropriating State secret documents” under Article 337 of the Penal Code.
Hanoi (VNA) - The Supreme People’s Procuracy on November 26 decided to prosecute NguyenDuc Chung, former Chairman of the Hanoi People’s Committee, and accomplices for“appropriating State secret documents” under Article 337 of the Penal Code.
His accomplices areformer policeman Pham Quang Dung, Chung’s driver Nguyen Hoang Trung who is alsoa member of the staff of the editorial-secretariat section at the Office of theHanoi People’s Committee, and another staff of the section Nguyen Anh Ngoc.
On May 14, theMinistry of Public Security began investigations into a case at Nhat CuongTechnic Co. and relevant units. The investigation agency determined that Chung andhis wife, Nguyen Thi Truc Chi Hoa, had rights and obligations associated withthe case.
Chung then askedDung to provide him with documents and information on the case.
Between July2019 and June 2020, at Chung’s request, Dung appropriated nine relevant documentslisted as “State secrets” and gave six to Chung.
Trung and Ngoctook part in printing and adjusting three of the documents.
According to theindictment, the men confessed their wrongdoing during investigations./.
