First new NA session: High-level State personnel top agenda
The first session of the 14th National Assembly will take place over 15 days from July 20 to August 9, with a majority of days focusing discussion on high-level personnel at State-run agencies.

Hanoi (VNA) – Tꦉhe first session of the 14th National Assembly will take place over 15 days from July 20 to August 9, with a majority of days focusing discussion on high-🅰level personnel at State-run agencies, heard the 47th session of the 13th NA Standing Committee opened in Hanoi on April 25.
The NA will spend about 11 days reviewing high-level personnel, including the elections of NA Chairman and Vice Chairmen; members of NA Standing Committee; Chair of the NA Ethnic Council; heads of several NA committees; and NA Secretary General.
Deputies will also vote to elect President and Vice Presidents; Prime Minister; Chief Justice of the Supreme People’s Court; Prosecutor General of the Supreme People’s Procuracy; and State Auditor General.
They will decide on the structure and the number of cabinet members and approve the list of members to the NA Council on National Defence and Security.
Party General Secretary Nguyen Phu Trong is expected to a deliver speech at the first session of the 14 th National Assembly.
Representatives from the National Election Council will review the elections of deputies to the 14 th National Assembly and all-level People’s Councils in the 2016-2021 tenure.
The function will spend around five days on other important issues such as the Government’s report on socio-economic performance in the first half of 2016 and socio-economic development and budget plans in the last six months of this year.
A preparatory meeting is scheduled to take place on July 19.
NA Chairwoman Nguyen Thi Kim Ngan hailed the 11 th session – the last one of the 13 th National Assembly as a success. After 19 working days, the parliament fulfilled its working agenda with the spirit of renovation, democracy, and a high sense of responsibility.
The session also spent a lot of time on high-level personnel at State agencies, she said.
During the April 25 session, the 13th NA Standing Committee gave opinion on the appointment of Vietnamese ambassadors to some countries for the 2016-2019 tenure.
The committee will wrap up its 47 th session on April 26 by discussing draft Resolutions on the classification of administrative divisions and urban areas.-VNA
