First Overseas Vietnamese Economic Forum to be held in RoK

Hanoi (VNS/VNA) - The first OverseasVietnamese Economic Forum (OVECOF) will take place at the Songdo Convensia Convention Centre in Incheon, the Republicof Korea (RoK), from June 6-9.
Organised by the Business Association ofOverseas Vietnamese and the Vietnamese Business Association in the RoK (VIBAK), the event is expected to attract 300 Vietnamese businesspeople andhundreds of Korean partners.
The event will include exhibitions and otheractivities designed to promote trade, exchange and technology transfer, andbuild a network between domestic and overseas Vietnamese enterprises and Koreanfirms, said VIBAK President Tran Hai Linh.
The forum will also introduce projects andconnect potential investors with domestic enterprises as wellas create an opportunity for enhancing exchanges with topprofessionals and corporations from the RoK, Linh said.
Enterprises operating in the fields ofagriculture, tourism, service, high tech, import-export and finance willjoin trade promotion activities and economic seminars.
Two-way trade between the nations hasskyrocketed from a modest 500 million USD in 1992 to 60 billion USD in 2017 andapproximately 63 billion USD in the last 11 months of 2018.
Vietnam and the RoK aim to boost bilateraltrade turnover to 100 billion USD by 2020.
The RoK is now the biggest foreign investor in Vietnamwith total direct investment reaching 64.3 billion USD as of April 2019,accounting for 18.4 percent of the nation’s total foreign direct investment.-VNS/VNA

To further strengthen private-sector innovation, Bac Ninh plans to accelerate administrative reforms, build a digital, service-oriented government, and develop an integrated innovation ecosystem that connects businesses with domestic and international institutions, universities, and experts.
The participation of H&M, one of the world's largest fashion corporations, in Vietnam International Sourcing 2025 in Ho Chi Minh City in early September is considered a special highlight, opening up many cooperation opportunities for Vietnamese businesses in the fashion, textiles and sustainable supply chains.
This latest order builds on a previous agreement signed at the Singapore Airshow last year for 40 engines, bringing the total number of Trent 7000 engines ordered by the airline to 80.
