Foreign leaders have cabled messages of sympathy to President Tran Dai Quang over great human and property losses caused by the recent floods in Vietnam’s northern and north central provinces.

Hanoi (VNA) – Foreign leaders have cabled messages of sympathy toPresident Tran Dai Quang over great human and property losses caused by therecent floods in Vietnam’s northern and north central provinces.
They are Egyptian President Abdel Fattah Al Sisi, Palestinian President and Chairmanof the Palestine Liberation Organization (PLO) Executive Committee Mahmoud Abbas, and Turkish President RecepTayyip Erdogan.
On this occasion, PalestinianForeign Minister Riyad Al-Malikialso extended sympathy to DeputyPrime Minister and Foreign Minister Pham Binh Minh.

Recent floods and landslides have caused enormous damages in several northern mountainous and central provinces of Vietnam, leaving more than 100 people dead or missing.
The Department of Preventive Medicine under the Ministry of Health warned yesterday that flooding and rains in central and northern provinces could trigger disease outbreaks.
Tram Tau district in the northern mountainous province of Yen Bai is facing a high risk of landslides due to lingering rains from the beginning of this year and the devastating floods on October 10-11.
Deputy PM Pham Binh Minh has asked Thanh Hoa province to keep a close watch on developments of natural disasters and scale up vigilance in the face of the complex situation of floods and storms.
Prime Minister Nguyen Xuan Phuc asked for prompt measures to be taken to support flood-hit communities’ re-building efforts during a meeting with officials from Thanh Hoa, Hoa Binh, Yen Bai and Son La in Hanoi on October 26.
