Four Vietnamese players join ASEAN All-Stars Team for friendly against Manchester United

Hanoi (VNA) – Four Vietnamese players will join the ASEAN All-Stars Team in a friendly against Manchester United in Malaysia on May 28, the Vietnam Football Federation (VFF) announced.

They are Do Duy Manh and Nguyen Hai Long (Hanoi FC), Nguyen Hoang Duc (Phu Dong Ninh Binh Club), and Nguyen Van Vi (Thep Xanh Nam Dinh FC).

Last month, the ASEAN Football Federation (AFF) selected three players of the Vietnamese national football team – Do Duy Manh, Nguyen Hoang Duc, and Nguyen Quang Hai – for the ASEAN All-Stars Team. However, due to the tight schedule at the club level, especially the final of the Southeast Asian Club Championship – Shopee Cup 2024/2025, midfielder Quang Hai from Hanoi Police FC asked to withdraw from the list to focus on important goals of his home team.

The match against Manchester United which will take place at Bukit Jalil Stadium in Kuala Lumpur, Malaysia, on May 28. It is part of the Maybank Challenge Cup and aims to raise funds for Al-Sultan Abdullah (YASA), a prestigious charity organisation in Malaysia.

The ASEAN All-Stars Team will feature top players selected from all 12 AFF member associations, reflecting the diversity and collective strength of Southeast Asian football.

Earlier, Kimꦇ Sang-sik, head coach of Vietnam’s national football team, was selected to take the helm of this team./.
