French quartet makes Hanoi debut

The award-winning TANA String Quartet from France will make their Hanoi debut with the world premiere of Phong Vu (Dance of Wind), a composition by noted Vietnamese-French composer Ton That Tiet, on April 13 at the French cultural centre L’Espace.

Hanoi (VNA) - The award-winning TANA String Quartet from France willmake their Hanoi debut with the world premiere of Phong Vu (Dance ofWind), a composition by noted Vietnamese-French composer Ton That Tiet, on April13 at the French cultural centre L’Espace.

During their only one-night concert, the quartetwill perform both classical and contemporary music.

Alongside compositions by Tiet, the quartet willperform the String Quartet No 3 “Shadows” by Yann Robin, and the StringQuartet in G minor, op. 10 by Claude Debussy.

Consisting of Antoine Maisonhaute and IvanLebrun on violin, Maxime Desert on viola, and Jeanne Maisonhaute on cello, thequartet was formed to promote contemporary repertoire and enhance therelationship between composers and performers.

Recognised by The Guardian as “impeccableplayers”, the quartet has received an array of international awards.

The quartet won the Union of Belgian Composers’ Fuga Prix, theOctave De La Musique Awards for contemporary music, among other awards.

In addition, TANA has appeared at several prestigious festivalsand concert series all over the world, including MUSICA à Strasbourg,Saint-Denis, Musiques du GMEM, Faithful in Berlin, San Sebastian, Auditorium duLouvre, Villa Medici in Rome, Pharos Foundation in Cyprus.
