Friendship union celebrates Bulgaria’s National Day in HCM City
With their historical similarities, Vietnam and Bulgaria have fostered a steadfast and loyal friendship, continuously nurtured by their leaders and people over more than seven decades.

HCM City (VNA) – The Ho Chi Minh City Union of Friendship Organisations hosted a ceremony on March 3 to commemorate the 147th anniversary of Bulgaria’s National Day (March 3, 1878) and the 75th anniversary of the two countries’ diplomatic relations (1950–2025), highlighting the solidarity and friendship between the two countries.
In her congratulatory remarks, Chairwoman of the municipal Vietnam-Bulgaria Friendship Association Hoang Thai Lan expressed her delight at the robust and sound development of bilateral ties across various fields, including diplomacy, education, trade, and investment. With their historical similarities, Vietnam and Bulgaria have fostered a steadfast and loyal friendship, continuously nurtured by their leaders and people over more than seven decades.
She noted that recent years have seen frequent high-level visits between the two nations, reflecting a shared commitment to long-term cooperation and aspirations for strategic partnership. Vietnam and Bulgaria continue to demonstrate a sustainable collaboration on the international stage, contributing to global peace, prosperity, and mutual growth.

Speaking at the event, Dr. Oleg Marinov, Bulgarian Economic and Trade Counsellor in the southern metropolis, conveyed a message from Bulgarian Ambassador to Vietnam Pavlin Todorov. In his letter, the ambassador expressed gratitude to the municipal friendship union for organising the celebration.
He wrote that Bulgaria appreciates the contributions of Vietnamese citizens who have studied, lived, and worked there, considering the group a valuable asset to bilateral relations.
The two countries have built a friendship based on mutual respect, shared values, and common goals, Todorov noted. Their 75th anniversary of diplomatic ties serves as an opportunity to honour past achievements while paving the way for future cooperation with a clear roadmap.

Building on this tradition, over the past more than seven decades, both countries have made continuous efforts to enhance and consolidate bilateral relations through regular exchanges of high-level delegations, the establishment of the Intergovernmental Committee and regular political consultations, the implementation of numerous agreements and cooperative programmes, and mutual support at international forums.
Vietnam and Bulgaria have significant potential for multi-sector collaboration, ranging from high-tech industries and automobile manufacturing to agriculture, food processing, healthcare, and education.
At the invitation of President Luong Cuong, President of Bulgaria Rumen Radev and his spouse are on an official visit to Vietnam from November 24 to 28. This is the first visit to Vietnam by a Bulgarian president in 11 years, and also the first trip to the Southeast Asian country by President Radev.
The Party and State of Vietnam always attach great importance to and give top priority to the development of Vietnam–China relations. Vietnam is ready to work with the Chinese Party and State to further deepen the Comprehensive Strategic Cooperative Partnership and promote the building of the Vietnam-China community with a shared future that carries strategic significance.
Under the leadership of President Ho Chi Minh and the CPV, President Cuong said, the press has been a steadfast force on the ideological and cultural front, rallying the masses to pursue national aspirations.
NA Chairman Tran Thanh Man stressed the need to accelerate the application of artificial intelligence and smart teaching equipment, innovate teaching and assessment methods, and further improve the quality of formal education.

Minister of Industry and Trade Nguyen Hong Dien welcomed the proposals put forward by the US side and reiterated Vietnam’s request for consideration of key areas of interest, including reciprocal tariff policies and access for Vietnamese key export products to the US market.
Deputy PM Le Thanh Long proposed countries promote shared values, including building trust, sincerity, and solidarity among nations and peoples; fostering cooperation spirit and responsible behaviour as well as upholding international law and the UN Charter; and placing people at the centre and as the goal, the key player, and the driving force of all policies.
The show, together with a grand parade to be held silmutaneously at Ba Dinh Square in Hanoi, will celebrate the 80th anniversary of the August Revolution, the National Day, and the General Staff of the Vietnam People’s Army (VPA).
In particular, in April 2023, the two sides successfully carried out a joint operation that dismantled a major organised, transnational drug trafficking ring involving both Vietnamese and Cambodian suspects.

The country is willing to participate in collective efforts to promote cooperation and mobilise resources to advance the current priority issues of developing countries, such as trade, investment, infrastructure connectivity, making the most of scientific and technological advances for development, and people-to-people exchanges, Hang said.
During the negotiations, the US highly evaluated Vietnam’s goodwill and efforts, affirmed its appreciation for the bilateral relationship, acknowledged Vietnam’s proposals and concerns, and considered these an important basis for continuing discussions and moving towards a final agreement.
The Chairman stressed the need for stricter fiscal discipline, faster digital transformation, and more efficient management of State budget revenues and expenditures.
