The Vietnam Union of Friendship Organisations (VUFO) has effectively operated over the past five years, contributing to enhancing Vietnam’s solidarity, friendship and people-to-people diplomacy with other countries. Statistics released at a conference in Hanoi on September 22 show that during the period, the VUFO established relations with around 1,000 partners in numerous countries over the world.
The union has sent and welcomed hundreds of delegations to and from other countries, and organised or coordinated thousands of people-to-people diplomacy events in Vietnam.
In addition, it has actively strengthened cooperation in issues involved in development, humanity, poverty reduction, environmental protection and handling war aftermaths. Attention has been paid to aid canvass and management over operations of foreign non-governmental organisations. Official development assistance disbursements for Vietnam reach about 300 million USD per year, which have been used efficiently and contributed to the country’s socio-economic development.-VNA
