Kuala Lumpur (VNA) – The Malaysia – Vietnam Friendship Association (MVFA) recently organised the third futsal tournament for the Vietnamese community in Malaysia.

Speaking at the opening ceremony, MVFA Chairwoman Tran Thi Chang stated that the event, the first in a series of activities commemorating the 50th anniversary of the liberation of the south and national reunification (April 30), and the 80th National Day, served as a platform to strengthen solidarity as well as promote physical activities among Vietnamese expatriates.

Fifty athletes participated in the tournament, divided into five teams, with one team traveling from Singapore and another from Vietnam. Over the course of 11 matches, players delivered impressive performances, showcasing skillful play and spectacular goals. Viet Spirit FC from Singapore claimed the championship trophy.

Le Van Hung, an athlete taking part in the tournament, expressed his gratitude to the Vietnamese Embassy in Malaysia and the MVFA for creating such a meaningful platform where Vietnamese expatriates could gather, exchange experience, and connect with one another through sports.

Currently, around 30,000 Vietnamese nationals live, study, and work in Malaysia. The community is well-regarded for its diligence, strong solidarity, and mutual support. They actively preserve and promote Vietnamese culture while participating in charitable and social activities.

꧂ Since receiving official recognition from Malaysian authorities in March 2022, the MVFA has organised numerous impactful activities to strengthen the bonds within the Vietnamese community and contribute to enhancing Vietnam-Malaysia relations./.
