Tokyo (VNA) – More than 50 golfers fromVietnam and some guests from Japan participated in the Sakura Championship 2023 held by Yo Group of Vietnam in Japan’s Shizuoka prefecture on March 31.
This is the biggest group of Vietnamese golfers travelling to Japan since the East Asian nation fully opened its borders to foreignvisitors in October 2022.

Hoang Dinh Giang, Chairman of Yo Group that provides golf tourism services, said through the tournament, the company wants topromote tourism in combination with sport competitions between the twocountries.
According to Alexandru Arba, a Japan researcher atStatista, a leading statistics company on the Internet, the number of golf playersin Japan was estimated at 10.52 million last year, an increase of nearly 13%compared to 10 years ago./.
A charter flight is set to land at Van Don International Airport in the northeastern province of Quang Ninh on July 1 carrying nearly 200 tourists from the Republic of Korea (RoK).
The Hanoi golf tourism week 2022 will take place in October in Dong Mo, Legend Hill, Minh Tri, Sky Lake and Long Bien golf courses, said the municipal Tourism Department on September 12.
The Vietnamese team will gather on June 26 in Ba Ria-Vung Tau, where they will train until July 14 before departing for Indonesia for the ASEAN U23 Championship 2025, which runs from July 15 to 29. Vietnam will face Laos on July 19 and Cambodia on July 22 in the group stage.

The U23 competition will run from June 16 to 22, followed by the U17 event from June 23 to 28, while athletes competing in the U23 category will undergo weight and skill checks ahead of the matches starting June 18, while similar checks for U17 athletes will take place before June 23.
Vietnam continues to sit just behind continental powerhouses Japan, the Republic of Korea, Australia, China, and the Democratic People's Republic of Korea (DPRK).
