Hanoi (VNA) - Grandmaster Le Quang Liem of Vietnam stands fifth atthe Gibraltar International Chess Festival after six rounds early on January 28 (Hanoi time).

The former world blitz chess champion beat International Master KhademalshariehSarasadat of Iran in the sixth match of the Masters pool which gathers morethan 252 competitors.

No 9 seed Liem will next play Grandmaster Grandelius Nils of Sweden who iscurrently second.

GM David Navara of the Czech Republic is on top. Grandmaster Vladislav Artemievof Russia is in third.

TheGibraltar International Chess Festival is the most popular open-chesstournament in the world. The 2019 edition takes place from January 22 – 31 atHotel Caleta, attracting many players. - VNA

🃏 Vietnam re-elected to 2005 UNESCO Convention’s Intergovernmental Committee
