Hanoi (VNA) – DeputyChief of the General Staff of the Vietnam People’s Army (VPA) Lieut. Gen.Nguyen Van Nghia had virtual talks with the Japan Ground Self-Defense Force’s Chiefof Staff Gen. Yoshida Yoshihide on July 7.

At the talks, Nghiasaid he is ready to join hands with Gen. Yoshida to make contributions topromoting cooperation between the countries’ ground forces and military forcesat large.

For his part, Gen. Yoshidapledged to exert efforts in promoting friendship and cooperation between thearmed forces of Vietnam and Japan in the coming time in a deep, practical andeffective manner.

The two sides agreedthat the countries’ cooperation in national defence, and ground forces inparticular has been flourishing.

On the basis ofimplementing the common perceptions reached by the countries’ Defence Ministersat their online talks held on June 3, both sides agreed on a number of future cooperationagreements between the ground forces.

Accordingly, they areto increase exchange events to discuss issues of mutual concern and seek newpossible areas of cooperation, as well as military medicine. The sides willshare experience in joining United Nations peacekeeping missions, and cooperatein addressing post-war bomb and mine consequences and COVID-19 prevention andcontrol, among others./.
