Hanoi (VNA) – Hanoi authorities🔯 launched the tree-planting fes♋tival 2016 at the site of Ly Thai To statue on February 12.
The event, annually held at the outset of the lunar New Year, is a tradition initiated by the late President Ho Chi Minh in 1960.
The tradition, eagerly joined by different localities across the capital city, has contributed significantly to protecting the environment and addressing climate-change impacts, Hoang Cong Khoi, Secretary of Hoan Kiem district’s Party Committee, said in his speech.
Secretary of the Hanoi Party Committee Hoang Trung Hai, former Secretary of the municipal Party Committee Pham Quang Nghi, Chairman of the Hanoi People’s Committee Nguyen Duc Chung and residents of Hoan Kiem district attended the festival.-VNA
A Lunar New Year (Tet) tree planting festival was launched in the northern province of Ninh Binh on January 23 with about 30,200 seedlings grown in Nho Quan district.
Party General Secretary Nguyen Phu Trong paid a Lunar New Year (Tet) visit to the growing Hoa Lac Hi-tech Park in Hanoi, including participating in a tree planting festival, on February 22.
The Ho Chi Minh Communist Youth Union Central Committee (HCYUC) launched a tree-planting festival at the Truong Bon historical relic site in Do Luong district, the central province of Nghe An, on February 26 with thousands of locals in attendance.
Canon Vietnam Co. Ltd, in collaboration with the People’s Committee of Phinh Ho commune of the northern mountainous province of Yen Bai, held a “Tree Planting Festival” ceremony on September 27.
