Hanoi (VNA) – As many as 77 penmen will join the 2017 Calligraphy WritingFestival at the Literature Lake at Temple of Literature, Hanoi from January 21to February 11.
Among them are renowned names such as Cung KhacLuoc, Nguyen The Anh, Nguyen The Luc, Nguyen Nhu Phach, and Nguyen Minh Chau,said Truong Minh Tien, Vice Director of the Hanoi Department of Culture, Sportsand Tourism, on January 16.
They include 67 calligraphers selected fromprevious festivals. The ten others were selected after evaluation by theorganisers ahead of the festival.
Thisyear, calligraphers will set up in the yard in front of the Literature Lake.
Alongwith calligraphy, an exhibition featuring traditional trade villages andintangible cultural heritages and children’s drawing contest will be held.
This is the second time the festival has beenheld at the Literature Lake instead of along the sidewalks outside the Templeto ensure order along the street and maintain the beauty of the monument.
Writing calligraphy is popular for local peopleduring Tet. The festival aims to welcome the New Year and promote theVietnamese tradition.-VNA
