Hanoi culinary event promotes tourism with traditional cuisine

To make cuisine become the strength of tourism sector in the capital city, Hanoi’s Department of Tourism will promote Michelin-winning culinary establishments and many other activities.

Hanoi (VNA) ꦰ-  Elite restaurants, including Michelin-honoured ones, will showcase their culinary skills at the  Hanoi Culinary Space 2023, which take place from September 29 to October 1 at the Hanoi Children’s Palace in Hoan Kiem district.

ꦫThemed “The Quintessence of Vietnamese Cuisine”, the event aims to promote the city’s culinary value as a unique tourism product to visitors.

It will feature a wide range of activities, including the Hanoi traditional food space where delicacies from districts and craft villages in Hanoi will be showcased. 

At the event, guests will also be able to sample traditional Hanoian dishes such as bun thang (Vietnamese chicken noodle soup), cha ca La Vọng (La Vong grilled fish), bun oc nguoi (rice noodles topped with snails and served with cold broth), Phu Thuong sticky rice, O Mai (dried fruits), and Banh Mi (Vietnamese baguette).

The highlight of the event is the showcase of international cuisine and Michelin-winning culinary restaurants such as Pho Bo Au Trieu (Au Trieu Beef Noodle), Pho Ga Nguyet (Nguyet Chicken Noodle) and Cha Ca Thang Long (Thang Long Grilled Fish).

🦹At the event, visitors will not only enjoy street food but also have a chance to listen to artisans’ introduction of culinary culture as well as their preparation techniques.

🌊It is noteworthy that experts will talk about the history and geography of Vietnamese spices through the "Vietnamese Spice Map" (Map of places with typical flavour by region). The flavour on the map is created from 100% natural spice seeds.

Meanwhile, after tasting Pho Hanoi (noodle soup), visitors will learn how to make rice noodles, one of key ingredients of this dish.

🌠 Visitors can also experience the art forms of handicraft villages, rural markets and folk games, according to the events’ organiser.

Hanoi has been voted the world's third-best food destination for 2023 by Tripadvisor.

🐻Bun Cha (rice vermicelli with grilled pork), Trang Tien ice cream, grilled fish, and milk coffee are famous dishes in Hanoi rated 4 to 4.5 stars on Tripadvisor.

With a wide range of typical dishes, the capital city of Hanoi has lured more and more visitors, especially foodies, from all parts of the world, it said.

Having restaurants awarded prestigious Michelin star in mid-June has contributed to raising the ranking of Hanoi cuisine in particular, and Vietnamese cuisine in general on the international tourism map.

💮The Hanoi Culinary Space 2023 is expected to help spread the beauty and uniqueness of cuisine of the over-1,000-year-old capital city to domestic and foreign tourists.

𒀰Leaders of the Hanoi Department of Tourism said that in line with the development orientation of Hanoi's tourism to 2030, culinary products and services will be developed in various ways, focusing on their uniqueness such as night food streets and culinary villages.

𝐆Notably, the department will devise a Food Tour map so that visitors can discover and experience Hanoi's cuisine by themselves; improve the quality of services as well as strengthen the inspection of tourism facilities to enhance the image and quality of tourism in the capital./.
