HCM City (VNS/VNA) - Hanoi and the centralcoastal city of Da Nang are among the top three charming cities for youngJapanese visitors in recent years, thanks to many cultural similarities andtourist attractions, a recent Hanoi-Japan investment conference heard.

Nearly 600,000 Japanese visited Vietnam in 2017, 7.8 percent more than in 2016.The 1,000-year-old capital welcomed 290,000 of them while Da Nang, home to theUNESCO-recognised world heritage site of Hoi An, received 177,000, according tothe Vietnam National Administration of Tourism.

The Japanese ambassador to Vietnam, Umeda Kunio, said an online survey ofJapanese youngsters’ travel preferences found them saying Hanoi and DaNang have piqued their curiosity with their old culture, centuries-oldheritages and world-renowned landmarks.

Japan is the third largest market for Vietnam’s tourism sector behindChina and the Republic of Korea, and the country is hopeful of receiving onemillion Japanese visitors this year. – VNA
