Hanoi (VNA) –
Hanoi wants to learnexperience from Denmark in addressing environmental pollution, traffic jams,and clean water shortages. 

Chairman of the Hanoi People’s Committee NguyenDuc Chung expressed his wish at a meeting with Secretary of State of the DanishMinistry of Energy, Utilities and Climate (MEUC) Thomas Egebo in Hanoi onSeptember 20.

Chung said in the near future, Hanoi willimplement three important targets, including high-quality human resources,infrastructure investment, and administrative reform.

Egebo said Denmark will chair a European conferenceon clean energy and meetings on urban matters in May 2018.

The Danish Embassy in Vietnam is organising aworkshop on sustainable solutions for cities in December 2017, he added,inviting Hanoi to send representatives to these events.

Earlier a ceremony was held in Hanoi onSeptember 20 to announce the energy outlook report for Vietnam in 2017.

While addressing the event, Egebo affirmed thatDenmark is willing to share its experience in technologies and products withVietnam to help the country achieve its goals in energy and sustainable growth.

The report is part of cooperation outcomes theVietnamese Ministry of Industry and Trade and the MEUC within the framework ofthe Low Carbon Transition in Energy Efficiency project funded by the DanishGovernment. 

Built on updated forecasts on macro-economicgrowth as well as energy and power demands in Vietnam, the report gives policyrecommendations for the development of electricity and low-carbon emissionenergy by using more renewable energy and promoting energy efficiency. 

It also looks into opportunities and challenges toVietnam’s sustainable energy development and energy security. -VNA

According to Dr. Vu Anh Tuan, Deputy Director General of the Vietnam Space Centre and head of the project, this is the first study in Vietnam to simultaneously employ Sentinel-2 satellite data, advanced machine learning algorithms, and the Google Earth Engine (GEE) cloud computing platform to model and monitor key seawater quality parameters.

🌱 Vietnam ramps up plastic waste recycling, reuse, treatment efforts

In 2019, Quang Ninh became one of the first localities in Vietnam to launch a province-wide campaign against plastic waste, mobilising the participation of the political system, the business sector, and the general public. Other localities—such as Hai Phong, Da Nang, Binh Duong, and Ho Chi Minh City—have also effectively implemented waste-sorting initiatives at source, along with models for plastic-free markets and urban areas.
