Hanoi (VNA)– The Ciputra Hanoi – Yonex Sunrise Vietnam International Challenge 2017 openedon March 22 at the Cau Giay Gymnasium in Hanoi.
The event, which runs through March 26, sees theparticipation of 305 badminton players from 16 countries and territories.
The players will compete in five categories namely men’s and women’s singles,men’s and women’s doubles and mixed doubles, for a total prize of 20,000 USD.
As many as 61 Vietnamese athletes participate inthe tournament, including top players Nguyen Tien Minh and Vu Thi Trang. Theywill face challenges in defending their champion titles against strong regionalrivals such as seed No 2 Khosit Phetpradab (world’s 54th) and seedNo 3 Suppanyu Avihingsanon (world’s 64th) from Thailand and seed No4 Jia Min Yeo (world’s 83rd) from Singapore.
The tournament provides an opportunity forathletes to sharpen their skills and prepare for international competitions,especially the Southeast Asian Games in August in Malaysia, while badmintonlovers will be able to enjoy competitions between top-notch athletes fromVietnam and other countries. –VNA
Nguyen Tien Minh and Vu Thi Trang brought their gold medals home after winning in the finals of the Yonex Sunrise Vietnam International Challenge on June 5 in Hanoi.
The Yonex-Sunrise Vietnam Open 2016, commencing next week, might be the last international event in which national number one badminton player Nguyen Tien Minh will play on the home ground.
As many as 305 badminton players from 16 countries are expected to compete in the Ciputra Hanoi-Yonex Sunrise Vietnam International Challenge 2017, the organisers said on March 10.
Nguyen Trong Nha Uyen has made history for Vietnam’s dancesport by clinching a bronze medal in the solo Latin category at the WDSF World Championship 2025 in Germany.
The ambassador noted that among the 300,000 Vietnamese residing in the RoK, around 3,000 are living in Pyeongtaek and contributing actively to the local economy. Ho expressed his hope that the local authorities will continue support the overseas Vietnamese community in the city.
This is the first time since the adoption of the Convention that a country has served two consecutive terms on the Committee. The event, part of Vietnam’s cultural diplomacy strategy through 2030, was jointly organised by the Vietnamese Embassy in Venezuela and USM’s Faculty of International Relations. It attracted thousands of students from universities across Venezuela.
For the first time, Vietnamese audiences will have the opportunity to experience the ballet masterpiece "Don Quixote" in its original version by renowned choreographer Marius Petipa.
