Five supermarkets in the city participated in the campaign themed “ Hanoi – Sunday no nylon bags” on August 21.
Themove aims to raise public awareness of adverse impacts of nylon bags onthe living environment and encourage consumers to use environmentallyfriendly alternatives such as paper or synthetic fibre bags, helpingchange their habit of using nylon bags in their daily life to protectthe habitat and the community’s health.
The campaign was launchedby the Hanoi People’s Committee and the Department of Natural Resourcesand Environment with this year’s main event being a meeting at theThong Nhat Park in Hanoi on October 2.
The meeting willbe followed by a series of activities such as a bicycle ride, a walkaround Thien Quang lake, free delivery of environmentally friendly bagsand collection of nylon bags.
From now to the end of the year,all 29 inner and suburb districts of Hanoi will organise activities toraise the campaign’s efficiency and affirm the city’s determination toimprove the environmental protection, contributing to promoting theimage of Green-Clean-Beautiful Hanoi./.
