Hanoi, Shanghai agree to strengthen cooperation

Hanoi(VNA) – The Vietnam Fatherland Front (VFF)’s chapter in Hanoi and the ShanghaiCommittee of the Chinese People’s Political Consultative Conference (CPPCC)have inked an agreement in Shanghai to bolster their cooperation for 2018-2023.

The document wasreached during a visit by Vice President of VFF Central Committee and Presidentof the VFF Hanoi chapter Vu Hong Khanh to Shanghai from May 17 – 21.

Khanh had ameeting with Chairman of the CPPCC Shanghai Committee Dong Yunhu during which thehost said the CPPCC Shanghai Committee wants to expand relations and promote cooperationwith the Hanoi VFF in the fields of science, education, culture, healthcare,sports and tourism.

The two sidesdiscussed and agreed to strengthen their ties in four areas. They will work to raiseawareness of the Vietnam – China comprehensive strategic partnership among peoplesof the two countries and cities and foster cultural connectivity and exchangesto improve their mutual understanding.

They agreed toestablish long-term and stable cooperation, update each other on theirsocio-economic and cultural development and share experience in politicalconsultancy, government and Party building and supervision and others.

They alsoplanned to increase exchanges of visit of their working delegations and to makeefforts to promote friendship activities between the two countries in the twocities.

Khanh was on avisit to China from May 13 – 21. On the first half of the tour, he visitedBeijing from May 13 – 17 where he met Chairman of the CPPCC Beijing CommitteeJi Lin, Secretary of the BeijingParty Committee Cai Qi and Vice Secretary of the Beijing Party Committee andMayor of Beijing city Chen Jining.

At meetings with Cai Qi and Chen Jining, Khanh spoke highlyof socio-economic achievements, reform and Party building of China and Beijingin particular. 

The hosts lauded growing ties between China andVietnam, marked by mutual visits by leaders of the two Parties and countries tooutline a complete plan for the China – Vietnam comprehensive strategiccooperative partnership in the new context. 

China attaches highest importance to developingties with Vietnam and wishes to realise common perceptions reached by the twoParties and countries’ leaders, they said. 

As Hanoi and Beijing are both capitals of thetwo socialist nations, they share similarities in the city’s development andcould learn from each other’s experience, they added. 

Beijing leaders wished that both sides couldfacilitate high-level visits and share experience in economic development,urban management, cultural and tourism cooperation, and people-to-peopleexchange, thus lifting ties between the two capitals to a greater height.-VNA
