Hanoi students promote local tourist attractions

As many as 300 students in Hanoi will promote cultural and historical values of the local tourist attractions when joining the “Supporting Thang Long-Hanoi Tourism” programme launched by the municipal Department of Tourism on March 22.

Hanoi (VNA) – As many as 300 students in Hanoi will promote culturaland historical values of the local tourist attractions when joining the“Supporting Thang Long-Hanoi Tourism” programme launched by the municipalDepartment of Tourism on March 22.

The students were chosen at the Hanoi Open University, the University of SocialSciences and Humanities under the Vietnam National University-Hanoi, and theUniversity of Languages and International Studies under the Vietnam NationalUniversity-Hanoi, Hanoi Metropolitan University and the Hanoi University ofIndustry. All of them have good health, strict discipline and sound Englishspeaking skills, and love voluntary activities.

They will work at popular tourist sites frequented by many domestic and foreignvisitors like Thang Long Royal Citadel, Hoan Kiem (Returned Sword) Lake and LyThai To Statute, Temple of Literature and Old Quarter.

Besides supporting the visitors at the tourism information booths on Le ThachStreet, the volunteers will join tourism events in the city.

They have received training from the tourism department in communicationskills, basic knowledge of the tourist sites and first aid in case ofincidents.

According to the department, the programme aims to raise awareness among theyouths of preserving and promoting the country’s cultural and historicalvalues.-VNA
