Hanoi (VNA) – The capital city of Hanoi is taking measures to build agreen and clean environment.

Floating houses on West Lake (Ho Tay) were dismantled due to the pollution theycaused while hundreds of public toilets were set up across the city.

The city is building of a wastewater treatment facility in Yen Xa (ThanhTri district), with daily capacity of 270,000 cubic metres to improve Hanoi’senvironment. A plant to treat wastewater from Cau Nga craft village also becameoperational in Duong Lieu commune, Hoai Duc district.

In addition to punishing littering in public places, the city has installed4,000 new bins in four main districts- Ba Dinh, Hoan Kiem, Hai Ba Trung andDong Da.  Also, 50 specialised vehicleshave been used for urban clean-ups.

The city leaders said that a rising population pressures the environment and thecity is paying attention to mobilising capital for science and technologydevelopment to create a fresher environment.

⛄ Vietnam pioneers use of AI and remote sensing to monitor seawater quality

According to Dr. Vu Anh Tuan, Deputy Director General of the Vietnam Space Centre and head of the project, this is the first study in Vietnam to simultaneously employ Sentinel-2 satellite data, advanced machine learning algorithms, and the Google Earth Engine (GEE) cloud computing platform to model and monitor key seawater quality parameters.
