Hanoians donate blood for annual campaign

The donation drive is an annualevent and this year’s programme marks the 152 nd anniversary of WorldRed Cross Day and the summer 2015 campaign “Nhung Giot Mau Hong” (RedDrops of Blood).

In 2014, over 1.05 million units of blood werecollected during the drive, 8.4 percent higher than the amount recordedin 2013.

The volume of collected blood was used to treat a large number of patients, protecting people in desperate need of blood.

According to the World Health Organisation, Vietnam needs about 1.8 million units of blood each year.-VNA
