Binh Dinh (VNA) – A 3kg hawksbill turtle, a rare species listed in the Red Book of Vietnam, wasreleased into the sea in the south central province of Binh Dinh on April 13.
A local fisherman found the hawksbill turtle (scientifically named Eretmochelysimbricata) in Thi Nai lagoon and voluntarily handed it over to localauthorities on April 12.
In 2021, three sea turtles that became trapped in fishing nets in Binh Dinh were voluntarily handed over to relevant authorities to be released back into the sea./.
Sea turtles (Chelonioidea) are rare and endangered animals which are facing a risk of extinction on a global scale and are being protected by many countries around the world, including Vietnam.
The Cuc Phuong National Park in the northern province of Ninh Binh said on January 10 that the unit had just rescued a large number of wild animals including 6 species of turtles, masked palm civet, Chinese Water Dragon, and pangolin in Da Nang city and Quang Tri province in the central region.
