HCM City doctors give eye surgery to Lao patients

– A delegation of doctors from HCM City in collaboration withdoctors of an eye hospital in Laos performed free eye surgery using Phacotechnique on cataract patients in Vientiane from December 14-16. 

The surgery ispart of the cooperation programme signed between the HCM City Eye Hospital andthe Lao Central Eye Hospital in 2003.

Under the programme,200 cataract patients will receive surgery each year. However, Vietnamesedoctors decided to provide surgery for additional 100 patients at the requestof the Lao Ministry of National Defence, bringing the total beneficiarypatients to 300 this year.

The patients alsoreceive free medications, lodging and travel cost and other consultationservices.

Besides, the HCMCity Eye Hospital doctors also trained their Lao colleagues on the Phacotechnique.

In 2016, thehospital has helped trained six Lao eye surgeons. It plans to transfer theoperation technique to nine more in 2017.-VNA

Vietnam, France collaborate in vaccine production technologyꩲ transfer

Under the agreement, VNVC and Sanofi will gradually implement technology transfers to enable domestic production of several key Sanofi vaccines that are widely used in Vietnam. In addition, Sanofi will support VNVC in training human resources and quality management in vaccine research and manufacturing.
