HCM City enhances trade cooperation with Philippines
The working visit by Under-Secretary for the Industry Development and Trade Policy Group of the Philippines Ceferino S.Rodolfo to Vietnam, including Ho Chi Minh City, will help intensify bilateral trade and investment cooperation.

HCM City (VNA) – The working visit by Under-Secretary for the IndustryDevelopment and Trade Policy Group of the Philippines Ceferino S.Rodolfo toVietnam, including Ho Chi Minh City, will help intensify bilateral trade andinvestment cooperation.
The statement was made by Vice Chairman of the Ho Chi MinhCity People’s Committee Le Thanh Liem at his reception for Rodolfo on June 20.
Appreciating the growing Vietnam-Philippines StrategicPartnership, Liem said that the two countries are expanding collaboration inthe fields they hold potential and coordinating closely at regional andinternational forums, especially within the framework of the Association ofSoutheast Asian Nations (ASEAN).
He expressed his belief that a business conference betweenthe two countries to be held in the city will be a success, contributing topromoting partnership between their enterprises.
Rodolfo affirmed that his visit aims to tighten cooperationbetween Philippine and Vietnamese businesses, including those from Ho Chi MinhCity.
The Philippines attaches importance to its ties with Vietnamand wants to step up collaboration with the country, including trade andinvestment ties with the southern hub, he added.
As of May 2018, Ho Chi Minh City had 34 Philippine-investedprojects with a total capital of nearly 26 million USD. The country ranked 36th among 96 nations and territories pouring capital into the city.
Last year, two-way trade hit 676 million USD, an annual riseof 6 percent.-VNA
Ho Chi Minh City’s total retail and service revenue in the first six months of 2018 is estimated at 502.55 trillion VND (22.11 billion USD), up 11.7 percent over the same period last year.
Relations between Ho Chi Minh City and the United States will bear more fruit to contribute to the two countries’ bilateral ties, said Le Thanh Liem, Vice Chairman of the city People’s Committee on June 14.
Ho Chi Minh City pays attention to a project assessing its international credit confidence and hopes that it will help raise the city’s position and prestige and expand financial resources to serve its development.

During the negotiations, the US highly evaluated Vietnam’s goodwill and efforts, affirmed its appreciation for the bilateral relationship, acknowledged Vietnam’s proposals and concerns, and considered these an important basis for continuing discussions and moving towards a final agreement.
The Chairman stressed the need for stricter fiscal discipline, faster digital transformation, and more efficient management of State budget revenues and expenditures.
