HCM City (VNA) - HCM City FC made another surprise in the transfermarket on January 8 when they introduced their newest player, Brazilian strikerGustavo Santos Costa.

Costa is the third foreign player in the team, which is under acting PresidentLe Cong Vinh, the most successful national striker in history.

The 1.77m-tall Costa, 22, played for Roasso Kumamoto Club in J.League 2,in which he played 29 matches and scored five goals. He was previously a memberof Nagoya Grampus FC at the J.League 1 in two seasons from 2014-16. He competedin 15 matches, but failed to score a goal. Costa trained at the trainingcentre of Bahia Club, which are currently competing at the Brazilian SerieA league.

Earlier, while preparing for the 2018 season, Vinh bid goodbye to 13 players atthe same time. He then brought to the team of six qualified players and formernational coach Toshiya Miura. Just a day prior to the announcement about Costa,Vinh shocked the nation by signing a contract with former Manchester Unitedmidfielder Rodrigo Pereira Possebon, also from Brazil.

The third foreign player in the team is Gonzalo Marronkle, who terminatedhis contract with former champions Hanoi FC last year.-VNA
