HCM City (VNA) – Chairman of the Ho Chi Minh City People’s CommitteeNguyen Thanh Phong gave a reception for newly-accredited Lao Consul General PhimphaKeomixay on March 28.
The city official highly valued the sound development of the traditionalfriendship, special solidarity and comprehensive cooperation between the twocountries in all fields.
Vietnam is among three biggest investors in Laos with 109 projects worth morethan 4 billion USD, contributing to strengthening bilateral economic and trade ties.
Phimpha Keomixay affirmed during her term of office in Vietnam, she will furtherpromote cooperation programmes between Lao localities and HCM City, especiallyin economy, trade, education and culture.
She thanked city leaders for their continued support to Lao students who arestudying in the city.-VNA
Vietnam and Laos have highlighted their great friendship in a joint statement which was issued on the occasion of the official friendship visit to Laos by General Secretary of the Communist Party of Vietnam and President Nguyen Phu Trong from February 24-25.
The Lanexang Assurance Public Company (LAP), a joint venture between the Vietnam Post and Telecommunication Insurance JS Corporation and the Laos Development Bank, recently launched a programme to support Lao students in Sangthong district of the country’s capital Vientiane.

The country is willing to participate in collective efforts to promote cooperation and mobilise resources to advance the current priority issues of developing countries, such as trade, investment, infrastructure connectivity, making the most of scientific and technological advances for development, and people-to-people exchanges, Hang said.
During the negotiations, the US highly evaluated Vietnam’s goodwill and efforts, affirmed its appreciation for the bilateral relationship, acknowledged Vietnam’s proposals and concerns, and considered these an important basis for continuing discussions and moving towards a final agreement.
The Chairman stressed the need for stricter fiscal discipline, faster digital transformation, and more efficient management of State budget revenues and expenditures.
The ministry has instructed Vietnamese representative agencies in Israel, Iran, as well as those in neighbouring countries, to closely monitor the situation and request local authorities to ensure absolute safety for Vietnamese citizens living, studying, and working in high-risk areas.
