HCM City (VNA) – Vice Secretary of Ho Chi Minh City PartyCommittee Vo Thi Dung on September 27 hosted a reception for President of theGlobal Summit of Women (GSW) Irene Natividad who is paying a working visit toVietnam.
The municipal Party official lauded Irene Natividad’s role in promoting genderequality and enhancing women’s position in modern society.
Shewished the GSW in 2018 will be successful and become an important forum toconnect women around the world, contributing to joint efforts to ensure genderequality and women’s progress.
Dung affirmed that Ho Chi Minh City women have played an increasingly considerablerole in socio-economic activities. They are becoming deeper involved in politicswith more women holding important position in the administration or becoming successfulentrepreneurs.
For her part, Irene Natividad stressed that women are holding the key to solvemany outstanding issues, thus, they need to bolster cross-border cooperation toachieve gender equality and uphold values of women in the modern world.
She spoke highly of HCM City’s efforts to stimulate innovation and enhancewomen’s role in the city’s dynamic development.
She took the occasion to invite Dung to attend the GSW 2018 in Australia toshare experience with foreign female leaders in promoting gender equality.
Following her working trip to Ho Chi Minh City, the GSW President is scheduledto attend the ongoing second APEC PolicyPartnership on Women and the Economy (PPWE 2) in Hue city, thecentral province of Thua Thien-Hue.-VNA
