HCM City music festival celebrates UN Day of Vesak 2019

The Culture Department of the Vietnam Buddhist Sangha (VBS)-Ho Chi Minh City chapter held a grand music festival on the night of May 16 to celebrate the United Nations Day of Vesak 2019 and Buddha’s 2563rd birth anniversary.

HCM City (VNA) – The Culture Department of the Vietnam Buddhist Sangha (VBS) -HoChi Minh City chapter held a grand music festival on the night of May 16 tocelebrate the United Nations Day of Vesak 2019 and Buddha’s 2563rd birth anniversary.

Speaking atthe event, member of the VBS’s Executive Committee and head of the departmentMost Venerable Thich Tri Chon said the UN Day of Vesak 2019 held in Vietnam hasbeen a great success, spreading the significance of Buddhism worldwide.

The festivalthemed “Sacred Lotus” recalls the birth of Buddha like a lotus in the swamp andreminds each to strive to be a peaceful mind, contributing to building a worldof peace and happiness, he said.

Musicperformances at the event depicted the life of Buddha, praised his life andnoble thoughts, attracting thousands of Buddhist followers in the city.-VNA
