HCM City removes hindrances to work permit issuance for foreigners
Ho Chi Minh City has cut short the procedures for issuing work permits for foreigners and digitalised the application process to make it easy for enterprises to get work permits for their foreign staff.

Hanoi (VNA) – Ho Chi Minh City has cut short the procedures forissuing work permits for foreigners and digitalised the application process tomake it easy for enterprises to get work permits for their foreign staff.
At a dialogue held in the city on March 7 between the European Chamber ofCommerce in Vietnam (EuroCham) and local authorities, foreign businesses saidit took them a long time to obtain work permits for their foreign experts,reported The Saigon Times.
They also reported facing hindrances in explaining the demand for using foreignlabour, including preparing documents indicating recruitment demands, trainingplan, recruitment notice and other foreign labour issues, from thecertification of work experience and qualifications to visas and temporaryresidence cards.
According to Nguyen Van Lam, Vice Director of the municipal Department of Labour,Invalids and Social Affairs, the department has recently reduced theadministrative procedure for issuance of work permits from 10 to 7 working daysand the renewal of work permits from three to one working day.
In the coming time, the department will review and propose shortening the timelimit for handling the extension of work permits and certification on theexemption from work permits from five to three working days.
The city launched a public service portal on dichvucong.hochiminhcity.gov.vn inOctober 2022. Thus enterprises can access the portal for information on therequired documents and to file them./.
The Government’s Resolution No. 105/NQ-CP on support for enterprises, cooperatives, and business households has considerably facilitated the granting of permits to foreign workers in Vietnam.
There are currently more than 93,000 foreigners with work permits in Vietnam, according to data from the Ministry of Labour, Invalids and Social Affairs.
Measures to remove obstacles in procedures in applying for work permits and visas for foreign labourers, especially those from the Republic of Korea (RoK), were discussed at an event in Ho Chi Minh City on November 10.
