HCM City starts drive for Truong Sa students

The second phase of the drive “For beloved Truong Sa students” kicked off in Ho Chi Minh City on August 30.
The second phase of the drive “For beloved Truong Sa students” kicked off in Ho Chi Minh City on August 30.

Co-organised by the Vu A Dinh scholarship fund, Phap luat (Law)newspaper and HCM City Television, the campaign aims to raise 12 billionVND (564,000 USD) to build a school on Sinh Ton Island in Truong Saisland district, the central province of Khanh Hoa.

Books and teaching equipment can also be donated to the school.

The school is scheduled to be inaugurated in April 2014 on theoccasion of the 39th anniversary of the national reunification and theinternational May Day. It will consist of five classrooms, two residingrooms for teachers, a training room, a library, and a playground.

Six months after its launch, the first-phase of the drive also raised12 billion USD to build a school on Truong Sa Lon Island, Khanh Hoaprovince.
