HCM City (VNA)෴ - As many as 242 athletes from 10 countries and territories in Asia will compete in the fifth Aerobic Gymnastics Asian Championships, which is scheduled for December 11-13 in Ho Chi Minh City.

The information was announced by the organising board on December 7.
The gymnasts, coming from Australia, China, Cambodia, Hong Kong, Iran, Japan, Mongolia, the Republic of Korea (RoK), Thailand and Vietnam, are divided into three age groups: 12-14, 15-17 and over 18 (senior). They will compete in individual man, individual woman, mixed pairs, trios and five-member team events. Senior athletes will compete in Aerobic Dance and Aerobic Step in line with international standards. According to Nguyen Kim Lan, Vice Chairwoman and General Secretary of the Vietnam Gymnastics Federation, the tournament creates a chance for Vietnamese athletes to increase their international competing experience when confronting strong competitors from China, Japan and the RoK.
With nearly 60 outstanding gymnasts, Vietnam hopes to achieve remarkable things at the event, Lan said. Eleven Vietnamese gymnasts partook in last year’s event, which took place in Gangwon, the Republic of Korea. They brought home six gold medals. In recent years, Vietnamese Aerobics has made resounding results in regional and international competitions, including bronze medals in individual man, trios and five-member team events at the Aerobic Gymnastics World Championships in 2014.-VNA
