Cameras to monitor environmental violations will be installed in all districts, according to the HCM City People’s Committee.

HCMCity (VNA) - Cameras to monitor environmental violations will beinstalled in all districts, according to the HCM City People’s Committee.

Thecity has recommended that district people’s committees place the cameras inareas where environmental violations occur most frequently, such as schools andhospitals and on streets.

Thechairperson of the district people’s committees is also expected to beresponsible for overseeing public hygiene in their districts, according to thecity’s People’s Committee.

LeVan Khoa, deputy chairman of the municipal People’s Committee, has directed theDepartment of Natural Resources and Environment to work with the districtpeople’s committees to open more public restrooms and rubbish bins to meetdemand.

Themunicipal People’s Committee also asked the police to work with districtpeople’s committees to set up hotlines to receive reports from residents aboutenvironmental violations.-VNA

Vietnam ramps up plastic waste recycling, reuse, treatm❀ent efforts

In 2019, Quang Ninh became one of the first localities in Vietnam to launch a province-wide campaign against plastic waste, mobilising the participation of the political system, the business sector, and the general public. Other localities—such as Hai Phong, Da Nang, Binh Duong, and Ho Chi Minh City—have also effectively implemented waste-sorting initiatives at source, along with models for plastic-free markets and urban areas.
