Ho Chi MinhCity (VNA) – Travel agencies in Ho Chi Minh City said most oftheir tours arranged for New Year and lunar New Year holidays have been booked.

As the twoholidays are quite close together, their customers were more likely to choose tripsin Vietnam or to the ASEAN region for the New Year, and to farther destinationsfor the Lunar New Year.

Accordingto tour operator Lien Bang Travelink, Taiwan (China), the Republic of Korea andJapan are its top destinations for the lunar holiday, while tours to Thailand,Singapore and Malaysia during the upcoming New Year have been fully booked. Thecompany said there are a few vacancies left in domestic tours to Phu Quoc, NhaTrang, Phu Yen and Da Lat.

The VietMedia Travel Corporation reported that since middle November, there has been alarge number of tourists registering a lunar holiday in Europe, the US orAustralia.

Tran ThiViet Huong, a marketing representative from travel firm Vietravel, said purchasingpower recorded for the New Year season just inched up a little compared toearlier forecast.

Viettravelhas sold out most of its overseas journeys. It will continue offering domestictours with various promotions and discounts.-VNA
