HCM City (VNA) – The 2024 New Year Book Street Festival will takeplace on Le Loi street of Ho Chi Minh City from February 7-14, showcasing 6,000 booktitles.
The “Lucky books” programme will be the highlight of this year's event, with hundredsof books to be distributed to festival-goers for free from 17:00 on February10 - the first day of the Lunar New Year of the Dragon.
There will be display ofmaterials, photos and works marking the 70th anniversary of the Dien Bien PhuVictory and the signing of the Geneva Accords, the 80th founding anniversary ofthe Vietnam People's Army, and the 120th birth anniversary of Tran Phu - the first Party General Secretary; as wellas a collection of valuable and rare publications.
The festival will also dedicate a space to technology in thebook industry, featuring audiobooks, e-books and booths showcasing high-qualitytitles across diverse genres. A recreational area designated for children willoffer visitors a place to unwind.
Additionally, a multi-sensory interactive art exhibition using virtual reality technologywill be arranged, introducing masterpieces of Van Gogh./.
A book festival was held in Moscow on May 1 in response to the Vietnam Book and Reading Culture Day (April 21), giving a chance for the Vietnamese community in Russia to meet, exchange books and promote the reading culture.
Hundreds of new picture books on a variety of topics by Vietnamese and international authors have been introduced to increase children’s interest in reading.
The Vietnam Book and Reading Culture Day is an occasion to promote reading and spread knowledge, so needs to be held in various forms to arouse a love for books and raise awareness about a culture of reading in the community.
The Su That (Truth) National Political Publishing House has published a book on stories about President Ho Chi Minh, which was translated by Nguyen Hai Hong and Duong Trung Dung from a Chinese publication.
The ambassador noted that among the 300,000 Vietnamese residing in the RoK, around 3,000 are living in Pyeongtaek and contributing actively to the local economy. Ho expressed his hope that the local authorities will continue support the overseas Vietnamese community in the city.
This is the first time since the adoption of the Convention that a country has served two consecutive terms on the Committee. The outcome shows the trust and recognition that member states have given Vietnam for its efforts and achievements in carrying out and promoting the Convention, as well as for its active role, strong standing, and growing credibility at UNESCO.

The exhibition showcases more than 100 valuable documents and artifacts, divided into two main parts: “Journalist Nguyen Ai Quoc – Ho Chi Minh” and “President Ho Chi Minh – Founder and Mentor of Vietnamese Revolutionary Press.” This is an opportunity to recall the late leader’s journalism journey and affirm his exceptional role in founding and guiding the revolutionary press in Vietnam.
For the first time, the World DanceSport Federation (WDSF) has granted Vietnam hosting rights for the two championships, including the Asian women’s solo category, which debuts this year as an officially recognised event.

For the first time, Vietnamese audiences will have the opportunity to experience the ballet masterpiece "Don Quixote" in its original version by renowned choreographer Marius Petipa.
