Kuala Lumpur (VNA) – Malayꦇsian police are on alert following recent reports that Islamic State (IS) militants are planning terror attacks in Thailand.

The country’s police have stepped up security to avoid any untoward incidents and are wary of the IS threats, Inspector-General of Malaysian Police Tan Sri Khalid Abu Bakar said to the News Straits Times Newspaper at a press briefing on December 5.
Neighbouring Thailand is on alert, Khalid said, adding that his country will work together with Thailand to stay updated on IS threats in the region. A Thai police memo was leaked earlier asking officers to follow up on information from Russia's Federal Security Service (FSB) that 10 IS-related individuals had entered Thailand to carry out attacks.
Malaysian police arrested five suspects linked with terror activities, including three with connection with IS, on December 5. The suspects included four foreigners and a Malaysian.-VNA
