Exhibitions featuring maps and historical documents proving Vietnam’s sovereignty over Hoang Sa (Paracel) and Truong Sa (Spratly) archipelagos were reviewed at a ceremony on October 30 in Hanoi. The event aimed to evaluate the effectiveness of the displays, which have been organised nationwide since 2013 to raise public awareness of Vietnam’s sovereignty over the islands.
It expected to collect comments and suggestions in a bid to better organise the exhibitions at home and abroad between now and 2017. So far, as many as 41 exhibitions on Hoang Sa and Truong Sa have been organised successfully across provinces, cities and island districts by the Ministry of Information and Communication and relevant bodies.
The exhibitions, drawing attention of thousands of domestic and international visitors, have contributed to educating the patriotic tradition and national solidarity among generations of Vietnamese people, and improving their awareness of national building and protection. In the reviewed period, the first exhibition of its kind was held in June 2013 in the central province of Ha Tinh, while the latest one took place in October this year in the northeastern mountainous province of Dien Bien. On the occasion, 30 individuals and units were honoured for their outstanding contributions to sea and island sovereignty communication campaigns.-VNA
