HSBC, WWF Vietnam join hands to recover submerged forests
HSBC Vietnam has teamed up with World Wide Fund For Nature (WWF) Vietnam in rolling out a project worth 10 billion VND (431,800 USD) to recover submerged forests at the Ca Mau Cape National Park in the southernmost province of Ca Mau.

The five-year project strives to retrieve150 ha of natural submerged forests, in the hope of handling severe challenges onclimate change, water security, water pollution and food security, togetherwith health care and natural hazard risk management. HSBC Vietnam CEO Tim Evans said that hisgroup has endorsed environmental conservation activities for the sake of futuregenerations. The project is expected to support Vietnamto fulfil its commitment on greenhouse gas emission reduction in keeping with theParis Agreement. In addition, it will help the country raisenationwide forest coverage. The impact of climate change would severelyaffect the biodiversity of mangrove forests across the country, experts havesaid. Vietnam is one of the five countries mostvulnerable to climate change while the Mekong Delta region, Vietnam’s ricegranary, is among the three large deltas in the world worst hit by that weatherphenomenon./.
