Phu Yen (VNA) – Hungary willhelp Phu Yen exploit the full potential of its hot springs to improve the livesof local people and develop tourism, thereby spreading the image of Vietnam acrossthe world.

Hungarian Ambassador to Vietnam Ori Casba made the statement at aninternational seminar held in Tuy Hoa city, in the south central coastal provinceof Phu Yen, on October 17.

Phu Yen province has five hot springs, three of which were previously examinedby the French – namely Phu Sen of Phu Hoa district, and Triem Duc and PhuocLong of Dong Xuan district – and two newly-discovered others in Lac Sanh of TayHoa district, and Ea Rieng of Song Hinh district.

Several areas contain mineral waters with temperatures of up to 70 degreesCelsius, meeting physical and chemical standards. They are described as holdinghuge potential to serve tourism development, heath care, and drinking watersupplies.

Mai Kim Loc, Deputy Director of the Phu Yen Natural Resources and EnvironmentDepartment, said the hot springs are open air with the water flowing over therocks.

So far, the department has only granted an operation licence to the Phu Sen hotsprings, as the others remain untouched and in need of investment, Loc added.

Mihaly Krampek from the Hungarian thermal bath association highlighted theexploitation of hot springs for medicinal purposes, saying that in Hungary, forexample, the service is a central feature attracting tourists from all over theworld, with up to 2.2 million out of the 3.6 million tourists to Budapest visitingthe various mineral bathing sites.

According to Krampek, Phu Yen will attract more tourists if the province canoffer such services well.

Ambassador Casba affirmed that he will encourage Hungarian companies to surveyand invest in related projects in Phu Yen. –VNA
