Hanoi (VNA)ꦦ – The Indonesian Government stated on June 29 that it would intensify security at airports and seaports in the country following suicide bombing attacks in Ataturk airport of Turkey’s Istanbul that killed at least 40 people one day earlier.

Speaking at a press conference in Jakarta, Indonesian Transport Minister Ignatius Jonan said that the country will raise the status of airports to yellow which means alert.
The hike of the status will also be applied at seaports which have terminals for passengers, he added. The plan comes as Indonesian people are preparing for the celebration of Islamic festivity Eid-al-Fitr, which puts an end to the fasting month of Ramadan.
On the same day, the Thai Ministry of Transport raised security measures to the maximum level at all airports in the country in wake of the recent incident in Istanbul. Minister of Transport Arkhom Termpittayapaisith stated that all agencies working at airports, especially security personnel, will be working together to provide strict security protection, while security measures at all bus and railway stations have also been heightened.-VNA
