Jakarta (VNA) – Indonesian Agriculture Minister Amran Sulaiman saidthe government has allocated 5.5 trillion rupiah to support localfarmers in developing local fruit and food crops.
"This is the president’s order. Wewill provide seed and fertilizer assistance worth Rp5.5 trillion from Septemberthis year until next year," the Indonesian news agency Antara quoted theminister as saying.
The seeds to be provided through theassistance will be adjusted to the kinds of the local superior fruits, Theminister said after attending the launch of a local fruit campaign on August13.
"Any local fruits, if possible alllocal fruits such as mango and others," he said.
He said local fruits in Indonesia have bigpotential for export, adding "mango, mangosteen and pineapple have verygood prospect." -VNA
