International festival in HCM City tells guitar history

The concert themed “The six centuries of guitar music” kicked off the Saigon International Guitar Festival 2014 on November 12, telling audiences back to the development history of guitar.
The concert themed “The six centuries of guitar music” kicked off theSaigon International Guitar Festival 2014 on November 12, tellingaudiences back to the development history of guitar.

Theopening night performance was performed by Guitarists Harris Becker,Director of Guitar Studies at Long Island University in New York andPaul Cesarczyk, Head of Guitar Department of the College Music atMahidol University in Thailand.

During the five-dayfestival, audiences have a chance to enjoy a number of excellent musicconcerts which features works composed in different period ranging fromthe Renaissance to now.

On this occasion, many youngguitar talents are also introduced to Vietnamese music lovers throughshows called “Romantique Guitar Music” and “The 20th Century andContemporary Guitar Music”.

A workshop introducing musical instruments will also be taken place during the event.-VNA
