Ireland pledges to push Vietnam-EU free trade deal
Ireland will work to push the Vietnam-European Union free trade agreement, the Irish Ambassador to Vietnam, Cáit Moran, told Prime Minister Nguyen Xuan Phuc at a meeting on December 16.

Hanoi (VNA) – Ireland will work to push the Vietnam-EuropeanUnion free trade agreement,✃ the Irish Ambassador to Vietnam, Cáit Moran, toldPrime Minister Nguyen Xuan Phuc at a meeting on December 16.
The ambassador said her country wants to maintain high-levelvisits between the two countries, and is willing to share experience inagricultural development with Vietnam. The diplomat also informed PM Phuc that Ireland is expandingthe provision of scholarships and improving visa granting procedures, addingthat she hopes more Vietnamese students will receive scholarships to study inIreland and more Vietnamese tourists will travel to the European country. PM Nguyen Xuan Phuc noted that the recent visit to Vietnamby Irish President Michael Daniel Higgins was a success, creating a new impetusfor bilateral relations. He said Vietnam hopes to boost trade and investment tieswith Ireland, while looking for Ireland’s help in education and training, aswell as assistance for the early signing of the Vietnam-EU free tradeagreement. The PM asked the ambassador to help with promoting bilateralrelations in the time ahead.-VNA

During the negotiations, the US highly evaluated Vietnam’s goodwill and efforts, affirmed its appreciation for the bilateral relationship, acknowledged Vietnam’s proposals and concerns, and considered these an important basis for continuing discussions and moving towards a final agreement.
The Chairman stressed the need for stricter fiscal discipline, faster digital transformation, and more efficient management of State budget revenues and expenditures.
